Service Description
Positive Behaviour Support Series workshop 3: Positive Behaviour Support Interventions Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is the gold standard approach to supporting people with disability who exhibit behaviours of concern. A successful and ethical PBS program matches goal setting and interventions to the functional behaviour assessment and analysis. The series covers the core elements of PBS that are transferrable across all settings, including home, schools, disability support services, residential support settings, aged care, hospitals and mental health services. This workshop will include drawing on a functional analysis to plan a multicomponent and evidence-based intervention. A combination of presentation, case-examples and practical activities will be used to support the development of a tool-kit of intervention skills that can be applied in the field. Topics: Values and goal setting Antecedent-based (environmental) strategies Skill development strategies Responsive strategies (e.g. reinforcement, differential reinforcement and extinction) Affect regulation strategies Promoting desired behaviours Maintenance and generalisation Incident and crisis management Restrictive practices PBS as a team approach; engaging key stakeholders and other disciplines Who is this workshop for? Given that consistency is key for PBS interventions to be effective, the more members of a team who understand the principles of PBS, the better. Therefore, this workshop is considered suitable for: Allied health professionals Psychologists Nurses and Nurse Practitioners (including Mental Health Nurses and Mental Health Nurse Practitioners) Support coordinators Case managers Disability service managers Senior support staff Therapy assistants Please note that a sound understanding of functional behaviour assessment and functional analysis is expected for those attending this workshop

If the workshop  is cancelled or rescheduled by us, you will receive a full refund or the option to transfer your booking to another group.
